HYNDBURN Council has been granted a court order allowing them to remove travellers from Bullough Hill Park in Accrington.
Gordon McMillan, for the authority, said the travellers, who are camped on the children’s’ playground, had ignored previous notices to quit the site despite giving verbal assurances that they were leaving.
Environmental officer, Jane Gillet, told the court she had been given such assurances on the day of the court hearing but when she visited shortly before coming to court they were still there.
Mr McMillan said the order of the court would enable the council to enforce the notice to quit.
