A THIEF who stole taps and chocolate was left with a bitter taste in his mouth after being made subject of a community order.
Burnley magistrates heard how 40-year-old Kamran Sarwar stole five taps from B and Q in Nelson on September 18.
On October 2 Sarwar, of Clayton Street, Nelson, stole 10 boxes of Ferrero Roche chocolates from B and M Bargains in Colne.
Magistrates were told the total value of Sarwar’s offending was £415.
Sarwar pleaded guilty to two counts of theft.
Sarwar was made subject of a six-month drug rehabilitation order.
Magistrates also ordered him to pay a £20 fine, £85 prosecution costs and an £85 surcharge to fund victim services.
The money will be taken out of Sarwar’s benefits at a rate of £5-per-week.
No order for compensation was made.
A spokesman for the magistrates court said: “The defendant’s guilty plea was taken into account when imposing sentence.”
