A 36-YEAR-OLD man who broke into a Clitheroe pharmacy stole two laptop computers, one of them containing irreplaceable wedding photographs.

Blackburn magistrates heard Anthony Robert Eden was arrested the following day trying to sell one of the computers for £40 and both were recovered undamaged.

Eden, of Dunoon Drive, Blackburn, pleaded guilty to burglary at Clitheroe Pharmacy and theft of power tools from B&Q. He was jailed for 18 weeks after the magistrates heard he had only been released from prison four weeks earlier.

Parveen Akhtar, prosecuting, said the manager of the pharmacy, Adele Robinson, arrived at work to find the shop had been broken into.

Two computers, a quantity of cash and other items had been stolen. Police found blood on a bannister rail and fingerprints inside the shop.

Miss Akhtar said the next day police spoke to Eden who was in possession of one of the computers. He claimed he had bought it for £20 and was trying to sell it for £40.

"He admitted the offence which saved the trouble and expense of ending the blood sample for DNA testing," said Miss Akhtar.

The court was told that since his release from prison Eden had failed to attend any appointments with his offender manager.
