A TEXT argument became physical when one party turned up at the house where the other was visiting a friend.

Blackburn magistrates heard Anthony Jones assaulted his partner and her friend during the dispute.

And the court was told at the time he was subject to a suspended prison sentence after a custodial sentence was imposed for an assault on a previous partner.

Jones, 39, of Perry Street, Darwen, pleaded guilty to assaulting Rachel Louise Haworth and Abigail Taylor.

He was jailed for eight weeks.

Cathy Allan, prosecuting, said following the text argument Jones turned up at Miss Taylor's home at about 10.30pm and he had been drinking.

He pushed his way into the house carrying a bottle in his hand, followed her into the living room and insisted she talk to him.

"At some stage he pushed her in the face, banging her head against the wall," said Miss Allan. "She passed her phone to her friend and told her to call the police and he raised his hand towards her still with the bottle in it."

Miss Haworth eventually ran from the house barefoot and knocked on a neighbour's door, magistrates were told.

"He said if she got him sent back to prison he could kill her," said Miss Allan.

Scott Parker, defending, said Jones had gone to the house hoping to have a conversation with Miss Haworth.

"He accepts that during the incident he used the back of his hand to strike her and when the other party got involved she was pushed," said Mr Parker.
