A 25-YEAR-OLD woman awaiting sentence after 'glassing' her partner continued to harass him by telephone and through social media.

Blackburn magistrates heard on one occasion Gemma Louise Chambers called him while he was at the police station giving a statement and despite being told to leave him alone by a police officer continued to bombard him with calls.

But the court was told the background to Chamber's uncharacteristic behaviour was post natal depression following the birth of her child who was just 11 weeks old.

Chambers, of Worcester Road, Blackburn, pleaded guilty to harassing Bryon Eddleston.

She was made subject to a community order for 12 months with a 30 day rehabilitation activity requirement, fined £120 and ordered to pay £85 victim surcharge.

Alex Mann, prosecuting, said Chambers had pleaded guilty to assaulting Mr Eddleston causing him actual bodily harm and was waiting to be sentenced at the crown court.

She was on bail in those proceedings when she started phoning him repeatedly and hacked into his facebook account after receiving information through social media that he had started a relationship with another woman.

"Even after being told by a police officer to stop the calls she continued," said Mrs Mann. "The bail conditions have been completely ignored and her behaviour is having a serious impact on this man's health."

Jonathan Taylor, defending, said his client was suffering from post natal depression and had been prescribed medication by her doctor.

"It seems this medication brings about an even lower mood before it addresses the chemical imbalance," said Mr Taylor. "When she found out about him being involved with someone else it was very difficult for her."
