A ROW which started over an undercooked, frozen sausage roll ended with a 38-year-old man pushing his partner and then smashing a window.

Blackburn magistrates heard tempers flared and Andrew Martin admitted excessive drinking over the Christmas period had contributed to his loss of temper.

Martin, of Burnley Road, Accrington, pleaded guilty to assaulting Bernadette McManus and damaging a bathroom window belonging to her. He was remanded on bail for the preparation of a pre-sentence report.

Catherine Allan, prosecuting, said things started to brew up the previous evening because she served her daughter the undercooked sausage rolls.

She said: “She says he tends to fuss over trivial matters and the following day he continued the argument.

“She told him to leave and he pushed her with both hands. Seconds after he left the house the bathroom window went through.”

Andrew Church-Taylor, defending, said his client conceded he had a problem with alcohol but kept it under control and had held the same job for 15 years.
