Tributes to Stewart Dewsnap
Stewart Dewsnap
Stewart Dewsnap

Tributes have been paid to a Blackpool man who was found dead in undergrowth at the weekend.

Stewart Dewsnap, 46, was found by police beside the A59 near Clitheroe, close to a 60ft bridge.

Mr Dewsnap, who lived in the Whitegate Drive area, spent his career in the newspaper industry.

He had worked for the Citizen's parent company Newsquest in the production departments of the Blackpool Citizen and Lancashire Telegraph.

He also distributed the Citizen in the Stanley Park area of the resort.

Mr Dewsnap was divorced and had a teenage daughter.

Bill Budd, Newsquest's regional pre-press manager, said: "Stewart was a highly respected colleague of the regional production department, we will miss him immensely.

"He worked in excess of 15 years in the newspaper industry and gained a lot of friends during this time. We would like to send our deepest sympathies to his family."

The trunk road between Chatburn and Worston was closed from 11.30am until 3pm on Sunday, while officers removed his body and searched the area.

Police had initially been informed of an abandoned silver Toyota Avensis car, which was the subject of complaints as it had been parked in Downham Road for several days.

Officers who went to check the vehicle, then discovered the body.

A post-mortem examination was carried out this week to determine how, and when, Mr Dewsnap died.

However, police are not treating his death as suspicious.

An inquest will be opened by Blackburn coroner Michael Singleton on Thursday.

God Bless you Stewart and may you rest in peace x I was honoured to have known and worked with such a lovely man, happy memories of times spent working with us here in Blackpool and of course St. Annes, for a number of years.
You will be sorely missed by so many.
May God Bless you and keep you safe in his arms.

Thank you Stew for the last 20 years, where together side by side as we worked through thick & thin, it will never be the same again. You always had some "words of wisdom". I suppose I will have to "weather the storm" by myself now, but thankyou for being just you! You will be missed more than you could ever imagine.
Until we meet again... Take care. Steve

I only knew you a short time Stewart but your kindness & willingness to help others shone through. You were quick to start my car when I'd broken down. You were also quick to put a smile on many faces with your quick witted comments in response to office chatter. I'm sorry if I didn't recognise any suffering you were experiencing. In thoughts.

Belinda, if you are reading this, I give my heartfelt sorrow to you and to your daughter and I hope this doesnt impact on your lives. Much love. James (Jim)Wilson.

Thank you so much to everyone for your support, tributes, cards, flowers and phone calls during this tragic time. Thanks also to everyone who attended Stewart's funeral. Emma is doing ok but her recovery will be a slow process. Rest assured she is in a loving, caring environment. She is 16 on Monday October 1st which is going to be a difficult day for her but she will get through.
Thanks once again for all that you have done for us. Belinda and Emma xx

I didn't know Stewart, but the beautiful comments from everyone he worked with compelled me to post a message of support to his family. I know what it is like to lose someone close. My thoughts are with you at this sad time.
