Children and local people from Rawtenstall are joining forces to plant trees in the grounds of St Mary’s CE Primary School. More than a dozen varieties, from oak to osier, are being planted in the woodland area next to the school, with help from Newground. Lending a hand are pupils Sumaya Begum, eight, and Myles Haworth, nine.
