Regulars from a Whittle-le-Woods pub have stripped to reveal nearly all for a charity calendar.

The twelve unlikely models from the Lord Nelson were reluctantly persuaded to pose in the almost all-together after being inspired to raise money for a local special school.

The calendar idea came from pub landlady Anne Maddock and regular Sue Higgins, 46, whose grand-daughter Ellie Melling, four, has Down’s Syndrome and attends The Coppice Special School at Bamber Bridge.

The school needs to raise £20,000 for its bid to become a Specialist School.

Sue, said: “My husband Mark and myself decided to take on this challenge after attending a school production in which the children performed, sang and mimed to music.

“I have got to say that I used a full packet of hankies and felt very privileged to have attended such a heart warming performance and one that has spurred both of us on.”

Local photographer Tim Emmerton took the pictures and a corner of the pub was set up as a makeshift studio.

Keith Maddock, aged 50, landlord of the Nelson, said: “We roped in a few of our customers to model for it, along with our three sons. Jason, 22, Marc 24 and 21-year-old Anthony.

“Dave Joyce, a big tough plant driver, needed four large brandys before hiding his modesty behind the parrot he bought in Blackpool were he is currently working.

“Due to some of the volunteers not showing for one reason we even roped in a couple of people who were just in for a quiet drink.

“Everyone involved had a great laugh and saw it as a bit of fun and the calendars are selling well.”

Half of proceeds of the calendar will go to The Coppice and the other to St Catherine’s Hospice.
