Burglars raided the Chorley home of Bolton Wanderers star Stelios and then stole his £80,000 sports car.

Thieves forced their way into the house through patio doors and rifled through belongings.

They found the keys to his BMW and drove away in it.

Stelios, a 33-year-old Greek international, lives in an exclusive street in Whittle le Woods, near Chorley.

He and his family were not at home at the time of the raid, which happened at 9am on Saturday, September 22.

Police have not recovered the car, although its number plate was found nearby, along with the contents of a handbag belonging to Stelios's wife.

A Lancashire Police spokesman said: "The keys to the car were taken from inside the house and the vehicle was then driven away. A number of items were found abandoned nearby."

Stelios signed for Wanderers from the Greek side Olympiakos in 2003.

He was unavailable for comment last night.
