A notorious accident blackspot could have new traffic signals by the autumn.

The A674 Wheelton Bypass/ B6228 Blackburn Road junction has been the scene of numerous accidents over the years.

Lancashire County Council's Chorley local meeting was presented with a report on a proposed safety scheme for the junction at its latest meeting.

It was told that if approved, the construction would take around 12 weeks and the lights would be operational later this year.

It comes after a study by the county council into the injury collisions in the area.
