A CYCLIST endured an agonising two-hour wait on Rivington Pike after breaking his arm when he came off his mountain bike.

The 38-year-old was given morphine as he lay stricken on the moor, to ease his pain.

He was eventually stretchered to a waiting ambulance by Bolton Mountain Rescue.

The incident happened at around 8pm on Wednesday evening.

The experienced mountain biker had been cycling down the Pike with three pals when he went over his handlebars.

He suffered a “very serious” arm fracture and a suspected fractured wrist.

He was taken by ambulance to Royal Bolton Hospital at around 10pm.
