SEVEN young men diced with death – by jumping into a reservoir.
The group of friends could not resist cooling down at Anglezarke, near Rivington.
But their daring stunt could have ended in tragedy, police have warned.
Eight people have drowned in North West reservoirs in the past four years and last year a young father lost his life at the same beauty spot rescuing his teenage step-daughter from the waters of Anglezarke.
Police warned even the strongest of swimmers can fall victim to the cold water of lakes and reservoirs.
Chief Insp Val Prince, of Lancashire Constabulary, said: “British waters are barely one degree above freezing, whatever the air temperature.”
Last month, United Utilities launched a hard-hitting campaign warning people of the dangers of swimming in reservoirs.
