BIKERS from across the country tested their sprinting skills at the 29th bikers sprint at Hoghton Tower.
Competitors battled in a contest about grip and acceleration over the one-eighth of a mile long road leading to the ancestral seat of the de Hoghton family situated on the A675 between Blackburn and Preston.
Over 120 motorbikers with modern and vintage machines competed yesterday for the fastest bike up the drive up hill to the historic building.
The Hoghton Tower Sprint was organised by Marshals North West, a voluntary organisation that marshals at motorsport events in the north west, on behalf of the ACU, or Auto-Cycle Union, North Western Centre.
The bikers raced with new, classic and vintage models of motorcycle.
The competitors spent a couple of hours warming up and practicing before the competition began at 1pm.
One of the competitors said because of the snow the course was the slippiest he had seen it.
