THE tranquillity of historic Hoghton Tower was shattered yesterday by the sound of roaring motorbikes.
The 31st annual Hoghton Tower Motorcycle Sprint attracted competitors from all over the country.
Competitors battled it out over the one-eighth of a mile long road leading to the ancestral seat of the de Hoghton family, with both modern and vintage machines competing.
