Donna Hall, chief executive at Chorley Council, has been nominated by Government officials as one of the most inspiring women in the country.
Donna is one of just three women short listed as a national finalist in the Inspiring Women Awards, sponsored by Britannia Building Society.
Donna, who is from Bolton and previously worked at Blackburn with Darwen Council, has been chief executive at Chorley since January 2006, said: "I'm really delighted to have been nominated for this award.
"It is a great reflection of what we have achieved by working together at Chorley over the last few years to improve the borough.
"We still have a lot to achieve but I'm very proud to have got through to the final three."
The winner will be announced at an event in Manchester on May 16.
