A thief stole £150 in cash from the trousers of a 67-year-old that were hung up at his Chorley home.
The victim discovered the intruder in his house on Greenside, Euxton, shortly before 2.50pm on April 5.
When he challenged him, the man said he was looking for Mr Murphy before leaving through the front door.
When the occupant checked he discovered that the cash had been stolen from the trousers which were hanging up in his bedroom.
The thief is described as being in his early 50s, white, slim 157 cms tall, with untidy hair and stubble.
He was wearing a blue anorak and spoke with a Liverpool or Brimingham accent.
