A public inquiry is to be held into plans to extract more than four million tonnes of sand from a 68 hectare site at Euxton.
A planning application for the extraction and processing of the sand, as well as the construction of a new access road, processing plant, weighbridge and office, was originally turned down by Lancashire County Council.
But Tarmac Ltd, which submitted the original application, are appealing the decision, and their case will be heard at the end of April.
Members of the public can attend the inquiry, which takes place on Tuesday, April 22, at 10am, at The Penina Suite, Shaw Hill Hotel, Whittle-le-Woods.
