A high speed train was hit by yobs hurling stones near Chorley.

The Virgin Glasgow to London service was travelling through Euxton when a pane of glass was smashed by a stone thrown at the train on yesterday morning.

The window was replaced once it had reached its destination.

Trouble hotspots across the county's rail network will be targeted in a two week initiative over Easter.

Officers from British Transport Police will patrol troublespots such as Tom Benson Way in Ashton, Preston, with a mixture of high profile and plain clothes operations.

BTP will also deploy motorbike patrols to gain access to the more remote locations.
