Controversial plans to demolish a properties in Clayton-le-Woods and build a new housing estate, have been rejected by councillors in Chorley at a planning meeting last night.

The plan to demolish a bungalow and replace it with an estate of 18 new properties on land at the back of a string of houses between 46-60 Lancaster Lane, Clayton-le-Woods, had been recommended for approval by planners at the council.

But the move had split feeling among local people with some in uproar about the Wainhomes Developments plan and others in agreement.

The T-shape development would have included an access road through number 54 and incorporated a mixture of detached bungalows, located at the entrance of the site, two storey detached properties and a three storey apartment block incorporating three two bedroom apartments.

The decision is expected to be appealed.

May I state eric bell voted for the houses to be built saying it was a better application than last time. Its a completely different story when wainhomes do this in his council ward he votes for them not to get planning permission. hmmm i wonder why.
