Man rescued from flat blaze

A man was rescued from a first floor flat in Clayton-le-Woods yesterday morning.

Fire crews were called to a kitchen blaze started by a grill pan at about 4am in Oak Croft.

A man was treated for the effects of smoke inhalation by paramedics at the scene. He was not taken to hospital.

Smoke damage was caused to the ground floor flat and staircase enclosure.
