Proposals by Lancashire County Council to reduce the current 40mph speed limit on a section of Chorley Old Road, Clayton-le-Woods to 30mph has been backed by Chorley Council.

The council stated that it backed the proposal as continued housing development in the area meant six road junctions along the road were now serving several hundred houses and the reduction of traffic speed on the route was likely to reduce the risk of accidents.
