A man suffered a fractured right leg following an accident on the northbound carriageway of the M6 near the Charnock Richard service station in Chorley this morning.
The man, from Standish, had been driving a grey Nissan Primera vehicle at the time of the crash.
Police believe the vehicle spun round following a tyre blow out and hit a lamp post on the northbound carriageway of the motorway between J27 A5209 (Standish) and J28 B5256 Leyland).
Firecrews from Leyland and the air ambulance have been on the scene since just after 8am.
The vehicle is now facing the wrong way on the carriageway and traffic is delayed and travelling on the hard shoulder between J27 A5209 (Standish) and J28 B5256 (Leyland).
