Four arrested in drugs raids

Four drugs warrants were executed at premises in Coppull, Adlington, Astley Village and Charnock Richard today.

Lancashire Police officers were involved in Operation Corduroy this afternoon, which saw four warrants carried out under the Misuse of Drugs Act.

Four people were arrested from the premises that were targeted with various suspected drugs recovered from all of the addresses.

The drugs are believed to be cannabis and cocaine.

£1000 cash was also recovered, believed to be the proceeds of drug dealing and two hydroponic set ups were discovered in rooms at two of the premises.

The warrants were carried out at:
Great Meadow, Astley Village - two people were arrested, a male aged 41 and female aged 39. £1000 cash was recovered, as well as drugs believed to be cocaine and cannabis.

Chorley Road, Adlington - one male aged 41 was arrested for possession of cannabis.

Hurst Brook, Coppull - a hydroponic set up found in one room.

Charter Lane, Charnock Richard - a hydroponic set up found in one room, there too.

The fourth male, aged 34, who is believed to be the owner of the Hurst Brook and Charter Lane properties, was arrested in his vehicle.

Those arrested are currently in police custody whilst searches continue at the property.

The warrants were carried out as a result of community intelligence that had been gathered by the local community beat managers and police community support officers for the areas.

Inspector Jo Keay, geographic commander for the Coppull and Wheelton areas, commented: "Today's activity sends out a strong message to those that engage in this kind of behaviour that it will not be tolerated.

"Members of the council and our Independent Advisory Group accompanied us on the raids today, as well as the Drug Action team to offer advice to those arrested and other people that may have been in the property.

"We have listened to the concerns of the local communities and carried out these warrants.

"I hope that this will reassure them that we do listen and act upon the information they give us and by bringing these people to justice will go some way to improving their quality of life."
