A WOMAN died in a crash on the M6 near Charnock Richard this morning.
The incident happened just before 9am on the M6 southbound between junction 28 at Leyland and 27 at Standish, close to the Charnock Richard service station.
Victoria Catherine Makishti, 30, from Fulwood in Preston, is believed to have lost control while travelling in lane three of the motorway.
Her red Vauxhall Corsa veered across the other lanes of traffic and off the carriageway up an embankment before rolling and coming to rest on its roof in an adjacent field.
She sustained serious injuries and died at the scene.
It is not believed there were any other vehicles involved at this stage but police are urging any witnesses to come forward.
