A new amateur dramatics group formed in Buckshaw Village is set to hold auditions for its first production.
VAMP, or Buckshaw Village Amateur Musical Performers Group, to give it its full title, is set to stage The Best Little Nightclub in Chorley in February.
The idea to set up the society came from Ed Cunningham, who lives in the village.
He wanted to create a place where Buckshaw's residents can have fun and show off their talents.
The show tells the history of the fictional Regal Nightclub through the eyes of its two dysfunctional cleaners Dolly and Maggie. The decades are represented by spectacular musical numbers from
Glenn Miller to Glee.
"I wanted to share my love of plays and musicals with the rest of the community and also enable Buckshaw to be able to work
together to create something amazing," said Ed.
The committee has been formed and the group are now on the look out for new members both performing and non-performing.
"For the first show we require two actresses, one aged around 50 and another 30 and around eight dancers both male and female.
“There are six musical numbers in the show including music from Glee, Rocky Horror and Grease so we really need lots of enthusiastic and talented dancers."
Auditions will take place on September 24 at Buckshaw Community Hall with actors to attend between 3pm-4pm and dancers 4pm-7pm.
