A family of ducklings in a Chorley village is being kept safe thanks to a mystery sign which appeared over the weekend.

The handmade sign, in Sandy Lane, Brinscall, was put up by a stranger at about 8.15am on Sunday morning, leaving nearby residents puzzled as to who the ducklings' mystery guardian angel is.

David Rogers, who lives in Sandy Lane with his with Susan, said: "We don't know who put it there but it is very nice of them to do so because it warns the motorists that the ducklings are about and forces them to slow down.

"The ducklings are always coming out of the wetlands onto the road looking for food and it is dangerous for them with cars driving past."
