The Co-op has pulled out of its controversial plans to open a new store in the Brinscall area of Chorley.
Objectors to the proposal are celebrating after the firm announced that it would not be continuing with the plans on the site of Brinscall MOT Station, Railway Road in the village.
Chorley Borough Council rejected the firm's application on the grounds that it was too large and because of delivery vehicle movements.
The Co-op said it had decided not to go ahead with an appeal against the decision by the council and was now pulling out.
