The Co-op Group could be set to appeal after its application to open a supermarket in Brinscall was rejected.

Chorley Borough Council turned down the application on the site of Brinscall MOT centre, Railway Road, saying it was too large.

There were also concerns that delivery vehicles would not be bale to use the loading bay when customer car parking spaces were full.

A Co-operative Group spokesman said: "We have received notice from the council that the planning application has been refused for the development of a Co-operative food store in Brinscall.

"We are now looking at our options before making any decision on our course of action."
