Woman's plea to Chorley villages to help find lost cats

MISSING: The two missing “semi-wild” cats MISSING: The two missing “semi-wild” cats

A WOMAN is appealing for help in finding her two beloved cats, one of which only has three legs, after they disappeared last month.

Sandra Garnett, who lives in Heapey, describes the cats’ lives as an epic journey and has been plastering missing posters on noticeboards in neighbouring villages since their disappearance on March 16.

Sandra, who does not want the names of her pets published, said that as the cats are semi-wild, she feels that they will not have come to any harm but is desperate for help in finding them.

She said: “One is a long haired grey. His appearance does vary, according to how well groomed he is.

“The other guy is fluffy and all black, with only three legs.

“Both are male and have been neutered. Neither has a collar nor chip.

“When I first encountered them they were unhandleable semi-ferals, living in extensive gardens where I worked in Blackburn.

“Soon after, the business where I worked was relocating.

“I couldn't leave them behind.

“I knew they wouldn't cope in an animal shelter so the RSPCA helped me trap them.

“My partner and I had been thinking of moving house and we decided on the rural area of Heapey.”

They had a shed built in the garden, with a small run attached where the cats could roam loose.

They were happily based in the shed for the last two years, spending much of their time in a barn of a local farm.

Sandra added: “My only comfort is that they went missing when the weather turned for the better, so maybe a spring jaunt and they’ve lost their way home.

“I’d like everyone in the villages of Heapey, Wheelton, Higher Wheelton, and Brinscall to keep an eye out for them.

“Unless something terrible has happened, I’m confident they’ll be together.”

Anyone who may have seen them is asked to call 07939 510838.
