Police have released CCTV images of two men who robbed a Chorley newsagent's and escaped with hundreds of pounds in cash.

The masked raiders threatened staff at a branch of McColls in Chancery Road, Astley Village, before making off with the contents of the till.

The two men, who both spoke with Liverpool accents, wore ski masks and are described as being very tall.

The pair burst into the front door of the shop last Thursday at about 8.20pm and demanded money.

One of the men put his arm around the shop assistant's neck and told him not to panic.

The pair fled unnoticed through the front door and escaped with hundreds of pounds from the till.

The first man is described as 6ft 4ins to 7ft tall, 25-30 years old and of medium build.

He wore a full balaclava, black tracksuit bottoms and black tracksuit top with the hood up.

His accomplice wore grey tracksuit bottoms and top as well as a black balaclava.

He is described as stocky, about 6ft 4ins tall, with freckles around his nose.

Anyone with information should call Chorley CID 01257 246421 or Lancashire Police on 08451 253545 or Crimestoppers 0800 555 111.
