An appeal has been launched for lollipop men and women in Chorley.

Lancashire County Council's school crossing patrol service is asking people to come forward.

There are currently 21 vacancies across the county and two in Chorley.

The vacancies are at Chancery Road Astley Village, and Chorley Road, Railway Road, Adlington.

County councillor Tom Burns, cabinet member for sustainable development, said: "Being a school crossing patrol is a very rewarding role and is an important part of the community.

"Whatever the weather, these dedicated people are out making sure that the county's children can get safely to and from school.

"For each of these locations, we've identified the need for a school crossing patrol but unfortunately haven't been able to find someone to fill the vacancy.

"There is a national shortage of school crossing patrol wardens so this problem is not exclusive to Lancashire.

"If you think you might be suitable please contact us and find out more information."

Crossing patrol wardens receive £6.08 an hour.

Applicants should be aged between 17 and 84 years of age and in reasonable health.
