TWO women had to be cut from the wreckage of their cars after a head-on collision on the notorious A675 near Abbey Village.
Blackburn magistrates heard the women responsible for the crash, Farkheen Muzaffar, had no recollection of the incident which had put her in hospital for nine weeks.
The innocent victim, Julie Mayall, was also hospitalised and had surgery following the crash in July.
Muzaffar, 26, of Perendale Rise, Bolton, pleaded guilty to driving without due care and attention. She was fined £200 with £50 costs and her licence endorsed with eight penalty points.
Catherine Allan, prosecuting, said Muzaffar was travelling towards Abbey Village after finishing work in Chorley.
Another motorist travelling in the same direction described how Muzaffar tried to overtake but had to pull back because of oncoming traffic. The witness was travelling at the speed limit when Muzaffar pulled out and passed her before losing control of her car.
Muzaffar said she could not remember the incident but said it looked like a momentary lapse of concentration.
"I am not an aggressive driver," said Muzaffar who works for a clinical research company in Chorley.
She said she was hospitalised for nine weeks having fractured her spine and her pelvis among other injuries.
