Chorley FC to host beer festival
1:22pm Wednesday 11th July 2012 in Chorley
Real ale connoisseurs are in for a treat this week as Chorley Football club prepares to stage the inaugural ‘Thirsty Magpie Beer Festival’.
The four-day festival, which runs from Thursday, July 12, to Sunday, July 15, will feature more than 80 real ales and ciders, from some of the UK's leading independent breweries.
The event has been jointly organised by Chorley FC and The Spinners Arms, Cowling, and one of the highlights will be a spectacular firework display on the Saturday evening. A number of local bands have also been lined up to provide entertainment.
And a family fun day, featuring a bouncy castle, a children's penalty shoot-out, a supporters exhibition match between AFC Chorley and Runcorn Linnets, and a hog roast and barbecue will also take place on the Sunday.
Magpies boss Garry Flitcroft said: “This is the first time we've staged a beer festival and it promises to be a great event. We've got some top local bands performing, a firework display, and of course the real stars of the show - over 80 real ales and ciders.”
Tickets for each night cost £5, which includes a commemorative glass, and can be bought in advance from the football club or The Spinners.
Alternatively you can pay on the door.
