M6 traffic officer injured in hit and run
1:29pm Wednesday 4th July 2012 in Chorley
A highways traffic officer was struck by a van in a hit and run incident.
It happened at 7.35pm on Friday, June 22, on the northbound carriage of the M6 at Bamber Bridge, just before the junction 29 exit slip road at Cuerden.
A small white van struck the officer who was carrying out a temporary closure of the M6 while a work crew was filling a hole in the carriageway. The vehicle had driven along the hard shoulder and initially stopped at the road block before striking the officer and then continuing its journey without stopping, exiting at junction 29.
The officer was taken by ambulance to Royal Preston Hospital suffering with a neck injury Anyone who witnessed the collision or who has any information about the driver, call the police on 101.
