Chorley FC accountant to face trial on £70K theft charges

A FORMER accountant for Chorley FC will face trial accused of stealing more than £70,000 from the club.

Philip Haslam, 23, of Weldbank Lane, Chorley, denied three offences of theft, including stealing £40,901 from the club between March and September 2011.

The two other charges, involve £22,221 relating to Chorley Sporting Club, and £6,000 from Chorley FC’s Black and White draw.

Haslam also pleaded not guilty at Preston Crown Court to burglary at the club September 3 and September 8, stealing £300 and £1,000 on the respective dates.

Judge Heather Lloyd remanded him on bail to stand trial at Preston on August 9.
