Police praise for Magpies supporters
1:50pm Thursday 26th April 2012 in Chorley
Police in Chorley have praised football supporters following the match against Chester at Victory Park.
Chorley played host to champions Chester in an Evostick Premier Division match last Wednesday following the postponement of the original fixture due to weather.
A full police operation was in place for the game after widespread disorder in the corresponding fixture last year. The match was watched by more than 2,000 spectators with the visitors winning 2-0.
Just three people were arrested and these were for public order offences.
Match commander inspector Steve Evans said: “It was well documented that there were issues at the corresponding fixture last season but I am delighted that the match passed off without incident and we have had excellent feedback from spectators and officials.”
