Chorley building society clerk held manager hostage with knife

A CHORLEY building society clerk has confessed to holding his manager hostage and terrorising him with a knife.

Ben Thompson, 23, was off sick from the Halifax branch in Fishergate, Preston, the city’s crown court was told.

But he turned up at work on November 1 armed with a knife and asked to see his manager, the court heard.

As police were about to raid the premises the manager managed to escape and Thompson, of Hornby Road, was arrested shortly afterwards.

He admitted false imprisonment and possession of a knife in a public place and was remanded in custody by Judge Heather Lloyd until March 5 for sentence.
