Chorley's Astley Hall to host festive events

One of Chorley's most historic buildings is gearing up for a series of festive events.

Children will even get the chance to meet Father Christmas within the grand surroundings of Astley Hall.

The Hall has been decked in traditional festive manner and there’s a 14ft Christmas tree in the entrance hall.

Santa has taken up residence in his Grotto in the Inlaid Room and there are also crafts for children.

For those who enjoy quality art, there is an exhibition of Turner etchings in the Hall’s gallery and the annual Chorley Lodge Artists Society exhibition in the Coach House next door to the Hall. Cafe Ambio in the Coach House will be open right up to Christmas serving festive food.

The Hall will be open from 10am to 4pm on Sunday, December 6, and Saturday and Sunday, December 12 and 13, and admission is free.

Astley Hall is also hosting the Tapestry of Music Christmas Concert on Friday, December 18.

Councillor John Walker, Chorley Council’s executive member for people, said: "Astley Hall is beautiful all year round, however at Christmas it is truly special."
