The leading cancer charity which serves Chorley is to hold its first ever twenty20 charity cricket match.
The Rosemere Cancer Foundation will be pitching the medics and managers of Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust against each other in the inaugural twenty20 cricket match, which will take place on Sunday, August 16 at Guy’s Thatched Hamlet. Entertainment will also include face painting, children’s Kwik Cricket and a BBQ.
A donation on entry will serve as admittance fee and a ticket for the family barbeque will cost £7.50.
The BBQ will open at 1pm, with play due to start at 2pm.
The medics will be captained by Dr Munavvar, consultant in general medicine, while the managers will be led by Colin Foster, pathology general manager.
Lancashire Teaching Hospitals Chief Executive, Tony Curtis will open the match and bowl the first ball.
Dennis Benson, Chairman, Rosemere Cancer Foundation and umpire for the Match, said: "I am delighted that we have chosen the twenty20 format for this year’s charity cricket match. It really is very popular at the moment and should provide some exciting batting and bowling. "I would encourage as many people as possible to join us at Guy’s Thatched Hamlet for the match and I’m sure the whole family will appreciate the extra attractions on offer."
"The money raised here will go to a very important cause and will benefit every cancer patient in Lancashire and South Cumbria."
