It will raise money for the music department of the Holy Cross Catholic High School in the town, where Matt was a pupil.

Matthew’s family set up a fund for the music department to spread his love of music and provide instruments to children with the same passion but who don’t have the means to afford the instruments.

The evening will start at 7pm and will include entertainment, food and fundraising fun including a performance from singer Brian Hobbs, who also attended the school, and band Iviso, taking the stage for an hour’s set each.

Matt was the singer, songwriter and guitarist in Failsafe, who released three albums after forming in 2005 and toured extensively in Britain, Europe and the USA.

He appeared with his band in Channel 4’s The Inbetweeners in 2010.

They were featured performing during the episode, The Gig and the Girlfriend, in the third series of the show.

The event is organised by pub manager, Hannah Powell, who is a close friend of Matt’s family.

Hannah said: “This evening will be a celebration of music and the joy it brings to people’s lives.

“Matthew’s tragic death affected our entire community and we are all coming together to honour him and help the Holy Cross High School continue the great work that they do with their music students, by providing them the opportunity to express themselves creatively.

Regular customers, family and friends will come together to create a buffet of homemade dishes to be shared and which will be laid out from 7pm.
