PASSERS-BY who reported smelling a pungent ‘herbal’ aroma coming from a Chorley house led police to uncover a cannabis farm worth £89,000.
On March 29, Community Beat manager, PC Debs Collier investigated a strong smell of cannabis coming from an address close to the town centre on Park Road, and found two bedrooms full of mature cannabis plants and drying facilities.

The estimated end-user value of the cannabis seized was in the region of £89,000.
Occupant Shaun Francis Pulford, 32, pleaded guilty to cannabis production at Preston Crown Court.
He was found guilty of possession with intent to supply cannabis, despite claiming the plants and dried leaves were to be used for ‘personal use’.
Pulford was sentenced to two years’ imprisonment suspended for two years, and given a supervision order with a three-month curfew and 200 hours unpaid work.
A Lancashire Police spokesman said: “This was a great result of using community intelligence to find out illegal activity, from members of the community literally following their nose.”
