STUDENTS from a college took part in an interactive presentation designed to highlight the number of deaths and injuries amongst young people on Lancashire's roads.

John Bennett, personal injury solicitor for Forbes Solicitors, joined forces with national road safety charity Brake at the event for Accrington and Rossendale College construction and motor vehicle students.

He talked to the students about the risks faced by young drivers and the impact of road deaths and injuries on young people and their families.

The students were then shown a DVD produced by Brake and sponsored by CIS that includes interviews with bereaved families and emergency service professionals, who witness the carnage of road crashes first-hand.

Mr Bennett said: "Deaths and injuries of young people on the roads devastate families and communities.

"I hope that by teaching young people about the consequences of speeding, drink and drug driving and not belting up, I can make real difference to road safety in Lancashire.

"I urge anyone who is concerned about road safety to contact Brake and find out about getting involved in this project."
