On returning from my holidays I guess bit late to comment but would like to point out that this is an international issue not just an Asian or a Blackburn issue. I am being equal here…there are problems in every corner of the country. Black, White, Asian or any other. I work in the education sector; I see problems from all areas. This is a BBC programme and media has a way of balancing this one way to do bit of propaganda and they are good at it. However, I remember from my research years back with the white gangs running the red light zones in Blackburn, Preston etc with under age girls. but this does not reach the news. Just 2 people carry out these acts and it’s caught the media’s attention. We need to tackle this issue from a neutral point. Ok as per the programme there are different race of people carrying out acts depending on the population of that group within that geographical location. The government are too soft and need to get extremely tough on sentences.

I am working on educating parents and kids about paedophiles and protecting themselves from grooming on the net. The government are very slow, its taken me 6 months to get access to training so that I can be experienced to train others, resources are still low, very low…why lack the time and the resources for important jobs like this a least priority. The problem we have is that many of our young girls have been brainwashed into believing that foreign men are all cuddly and loveable, "the big brown puppy dog eye syndrome". My 15 yr old cannot be told anything remotely negative, even for her own good, its as if she has a mental block to seeing anything bad in them. However you try to warn her just to be carefull and not too trusting, you are met with almost accusatory comments of racism. Posters here pointing out that pimping is an international problem and affects all races are being obfuscatory. i found the programme quite disturbing last night. when the police went to talk to that young girl up at the cinema, i thought to myself i have also waited there befor but for a legitimate reason that is waiting for someone to pick me up once i got off the train. it made me wonder if there was men waiting in cars trying to decide if i was a pick up?

Whilst I found the whole situation appalling. I am disgusted that the parents/carers of these young girls are not taking more care and control of where their children are and what they are doing. I was particularly disgusted at the clip where the police came upon a couple of youg girls and cars of young men loitering. I take exception to the comments made by the clearly accented Asian occupants of the car and their attitude and was outraged that the police officer made very little comment. I was also disgusted that these police officers did not request the name of the occupants or ask them what they were doing loitering and, more importantly why did they not take down the registration numbers of the vehicles? As for the prison sentences metered out to the two men mentioned in the programme - it's just a joke.

Identifying who is involved is a vital step in dealing with the issue - especially if it is racial which this clearly is - despite attempts by some to pretend otherwise. Ian, you clearly have not comprehended my main point, which was in response to Fred's original post (which was overtly racist and therefore removed by the LT).

This particular story centres around asian guys, but my point was about repressive culture & religion leading to perversion and abhorrent acts.

It is happeneing in nelson as well not just blackburn, i know of a few girls that this has happened to.
