AN MP has expressed her concern after a leading property developer announced it was leaving East Lancashire.
The Hurstwood Group, which is based at the Link 665 Business Centre, Todd Hall Road, Haslingden, is relocating to new headquarters at a £2million office development in Bolton next month.
Hurstwood bosses claim the move, which will see 100 jobs leave the area, was prompted by the popularity of Link 665.
It is owned by the company, which said that a number of businesses wish to be based there.
Janet Anderson, Labour MP for Rossendale, said it was a big blow to lose the company and hoped that its claims about businesses seeking to come to the Valley proved to be true.
She said: "I am very sorry to see that they are leaving the Valley, but I hope their optimism regarding huge amounts of companies wanting to come to the site will be realised.

"It is important to have jobs in the area and I believe they will continue to work in Rossendale."
Hurstwood group chairman Stephen Ashworth said: "The move to Bolton makes perfect sense for the business both in terms of timing and strategy.

"In recent years we have grown as a company and in doing so have spread our influence across the North West and now much further beyond.
"Over the last 12 months we have made key changes to our structure and strategy so we feel the time is right for a move.
"Another factor in our decision has been the increasing demand for space at Link 665 in Haslingden - our base for the last three years.
"The only way we could satisfy that demand was to move out."
Its new site, Oceanic,is one of three offices blocks at Navigation Park, Waters Meeting Road, Bolton, which have been developed by the company.
The move, which will be finalised in June, means Hurstwood will move away from Rossendale where it was founded in the 1970s.
Mr Ashworth claims that all the Rossendale employees will relocate to the Bolton office and that it would continue to be involved in East Lancashire.
