Rawtenstall 3D design company to expand
SIGN OF THE TIMES: Director Tony Holt with one of Linemark UK's logos
SIGN OF THE TIMES: Director Tony Holt with one of Linemark UK's logos

A COMPANY which make giant 3D logos for major sports events is expanding its workforce.

Linemark UK Ltd, a leading supplier in line-marking paints and machinery to global organisations, has featured art at the World Cup, Wembley cup final and Manchester United matches.

Now after 12 months of steady growth, they have moved from Haslingden, to premises at the Riverside Estate in Townsend Fold in Rawtenstall, which are three times bigger.

The move will accommodate six new members of staff.

Director Tony Holt said the premises are perfect and found them thanks to construction developers B&E Boys.

He said: "This 25,000 sq ft unit is absolutely perfect for us.

"It has a mezzanine floor which provides a separate space away from our main business operations in which we can lay out the giant templates for the 3D effect logos.

"If the logos are made for football or cricket matches then we make them from mesh metal but if the logos are to be used on fields - such as rugby matches, we have special grass paint which we use for that.

"The new premises are three times as big so they are great for us.

"Boys are a tremendous company to work with and have been very supportive. They have a practical approach and they genuinely want other Rossendale companies to do well."

Linemark was started 10 years ago when Mr Holt, a former Blackburn PE teacher, asked his friend Jan Korab, an industrial chemist, if he could come up with a better way of marking pitches than burning line markings into grass with creosote or weedkiller.

The pair were successful and, after striking up a partnership with global biotechnology experts Monsanto, Linemark was born.

Clients have also included Premier League football sides, rugby league's Super League and rugby union's national stadiums in England, Scotland and Wales, Twickenham, Murrayfield and the Millennium Stadium.

Peter Boys, a director for B&E Boys, said: "It's great to be able to accommodate a niche Rossendale business such as Linemark at Riverside Business Park.

"We hope we can play a long term part in Line-mark's plans by accommodating their future growth."

The business also supplies local authorities with linemarking for schools, playgrounds and car parks and vehicle signage.
