What More UK are celebrating two of their UPCYCLED products being shortlisted in the finals for the prestigious DIY Week Awards 2018.

  • Home and Kitchen Product of the Year:
  • DIY Product of the Year

Now in its eighth year, DIY Week Awards is the key networking event for the DIY, home improvement and garden market.

What More UK have been shortlisted for their brand-new initiative - UPCYCLED products.

The Upcycled range consists of products made from 95% post-consumer waste plastic. This now-commercially viable range is the result of countless hours and days of testing and trialling, working directly with recycling centres.

Judges came together in February at the Dulux Academy at Akzo Nobel's UK head office in Slough to discuss the entries, test out products, and choose 27 of those products to be shortlisted across nine categories. What More UK have had two products shortlisted this year.

Tony Grimshaw OBE, Director of What More UK, commented:

"I am proud of our team for all of their effort and hard work in creating this revolutionary new Upcycled product that has allowed us to be shortlisted in the DIY Week Awards this year. We created Upcycled as a means to combat the January plastic importation ban introduced by China. The tonnes of plastic that is usually shipped to China would otherwise be burned, buried or left in a landfill and we wanted to create an environmentally friendly alternative. It's an honour for this to be recognised by such a prestigious award nomination."

The winners in each category will be announced at the 2018 DIY Week Awards luncheon on Friday, May 11 at the Park Plaza Victoria in London, which will be attended by influential industry figures. Judges will be awarding the product they feel stands head and shoulders above the rest with a Judges' Choice accolade.
