A popular music festival held each year in Burnley has been granted the go-ahead to take place in a new location.
Following a meeting of Burnley Council’s licensing committee, a premises license was granted to Hunters Oak Ltd, which runs family-owned Hunters Oak Farm, off Ightenhill Park Lane.
The Drop the Beat festival is expected to attract around 1,000 revellers when it takes place on Saturday, June 24. It has previously been held at Towneley Park and Burnley Mechanics.
A number of objections to the plans were received from local residents by the council, but now the license has been granted, the one-day festival can go ahead.
Chris Smith of Hunters Oak Ltd was advised on the application by Malcolm Ireland, head of Leisure & Licensing at Napthens solicitors.
Malcolm said: “Following a meeting with the licensing committee, councillors were satisfied that the conditions of the license would be met and that impact on local residents would be kept to a minimum.”
Chris Smith added: “We know some residents have been apprehensive about this event taking place, but we believe the organisers have vast experience of running a successful and trouble-free event which has become very popular in the area.”
