Celebrity Chef Richard Fox returns to Accrington Food Festival on Saturday 3rd June preparing and cooking Spicy Moroccan Lamb Burgers with Aubergine Pickle.

“I’m absolutely delighted to be returning to Accrington” said Richard “Always a great event, always busy and everyone gets involved”.

Event organiser Scott Dawson Advertising were delighted that Richard could return for the 3rd year running – clear proof that he enjoys Accrington Food Festival as much as the 14,000 expected visitors.

Richard explained his choice for this year as being prompted by the coming barbecue season noting the burger sounds “gourmet” with “the taste defying the ease and speed of its preparation.”

“This is a burger which is a bit different, a bit exotic but which everyone can make quickly and easily at home with almost all the ingredients being used in every day cooking and sourced on the day from Accrington market and local shops.”

Richard went on to add that he particularly enjoys Accrington Food Festival because “it’s an absolutely local event”.

“Over 14,000 people came last year – 40% more than the previous year - making me feel really welcome and the quality of the local food was just outstanding. I’ve really enjoyed developing the Spicy Moroccan Lamb Burger for this year’s event and now I know and understand the town I’m certain it will go down well  – please come along to watch me cook and be a part of this fabulous event!”

You can sample Richard’s Moroccan Burgers after his cookery demonstrations at 10am and 3 pm

Richard will also be hosting other local restaurants on the main stage including The Balti House, Rishton, which recently received recognition by Celebrity Chef James Martin after visiting the restaurant.

Gold Sponsors Duckworths Estate Agents and Accrington and Rossendale College, together with many other sponsors, have worked to ensure that the event is family fun day with events including a World War II re-enactment (St James’ Church grounds at 1pm), Hook a Duck to win free cake and a themed world record attempt.

With more than 75 stalls offering foods from North America, Asia, Africa and Europe,  and of course from the heart of Accrington, we are confident that Accrington Food Festival is set to be bigger and better than ever before.

Accrington Food Festival will also see the launch of an initiative to restore a 1974 Leyland Leopard which saw many years’ service on the streets of Accrington and is painted in the colours of the Accrington Pals- the 11th Lancashire Regiment - to commemorate the battalion.

Visitors to the food festival can take advantage of free transport to the event on a restored 1968 Leyland Titan double-decker bus from pick-up points in Great Harwood, Rishton, Baxenden, Church, Clayton-le-Moors, Huncoat, Oswaldtwistle, Rawtenstall and Haslingden.
