INNOVATIVE develop-ments and outlasting the competition was behind the success of IT firm eBusiness UK Ltd which won the IT/Digitial Media Award.
The family firm was set up by Kam Kothia, in 1998, with the help of his brothers Nasir and Latif, to offer web design, e-commerce solutions and online marketing to companies.
Since then it has beat off competitors to secure contracts with hundreds of high profile clients includ-ing British Telecom, the DTI (Department of Trade and Industry), as well as Blackburn and Burnley Colleges.
eBusiness recently developed an online store for Oswaldtwistle Mills where customers could buy goods from a number of the outlet's smaller traders and pay for them in one transaction.
The internet store gave small businesses an online presence where normally they would not have a big enough budget to develop such a concept.
Judges noted the fact that none of eBusiness' rivals, which were around when the firm was started, were still trading as a factor in making their decision.

The company, based in Capricorn Park, Blackburn, has enjoyed its best year and has embarked on its most ambitious project to establish bases throughout the country.
Earlier this year Mr Kothia set up a franchise scheme and Edinburgh-based entrepreneur Neil Fraser was the first to sign up to the programme. He opened an eBusiness in the Scottish capital.
Kam Kothia, managing director, said it was anticipated at least another five franchises would open in the next 12 months with the long-term aim being for 100 bases.
He said: "We are absolutely delighted to have won, as we have never entered awards before. It is great for the comp-any and great for all the staff.
"We would also like to say a thank you to all our customers who have supported us.
"Our customers keep coming back and that is what keeps us going. We aim to under promise and over achieve and it seems to work.
"The fact that none of the companies that were around when we started out are still around underlines everything we believe in."
Before setting up the company Mr Kothia was formerly director of business services at Telewest Communications.
He has also been the director and vice chairman of the Asian Business Federation and chairman of the Ethnic Minority Business Forum North West.
